Our clients arrived in London and required a flat of sufficient scale and sophistication to become a permanent base for their extended family. They purchased 3 flats comprising of the sixth floor and part of the 5th floor of a block in central Knightsbridge. Having personally selected their architect and design team AML were introduced to the project through a 2 stage tender with the client making his final decision having viewed a previous AML project with Alexander Maltby. There then followed a mass building programme to create a 7,534 square foot home at 100ft above Knightsbridge with principal reception rooms served by a custom made bronze staircase that linked the roof garden,6th and 5th floor with a seamless sweep down through the 3 storeys.
A central corridor links the remainder of the varied rooms with lacquered paneled walls with patinated bronze trims and bronze faced panels, offset by strikingly tall American Black walnut doors. The sheer size of the property is beautifully crafted with exquisite joinery interfaced with all manner of finishes hiding a myriad of cables giving touchpad technology to every room via a central Vantage system. Whenever we return to this property it remains a sleek measured home for a family who love living there with all their needs so easily met.
